The '1999' Trophy
The '1999 trophy' was presented to the Group by its founder, Quentin Smith, to mark the Group's hosting of the Marquetry Society's National Exhibition in 1999.
The Trophy is awarded to the member, chosen by popular vote, who has contributed the most to the aims of the Group by service to the Group or marquetry achievement.
From 2010, the voting method was changed and instead of an open vote members were asked to choose from a shortlist of nominees. In 2012 the system was changed again, with the three most recent winners forming a panel to select the next recipient.
